    Breeds we work with

    Breeds we work with

We primarily acquire standard poodles however we also take in dogs from shelters, rescue groups or dogs that need re homing.

It is completely based on each dogs individual personality and temperament.

    Larger Breed:

Since 2001 We mainly work with Standard Poodles

These breeds love to carry and retrieve, but also are recognised for their willingness to work with humans.

Generally easy to motivate and train.

These breeds are renowned for a playful but dignified personality and keen intelligence.

When it comes to training, this is an "A" student, and the Poodle excels at performance sports such as obedience, agility, and hunt tests.

These are people-friendly dogs — they get lonely when left by themselves for long periods — they thoroughly thrive in a working environment.

Poodles are sociable and playful and are always up for a good game making them ideal for animal assisted activity programs.

Poodles do not drop hair so they are ideal in hospitals and areas where people may be allergic to dogs hair.

    Why Standard Poodles

These breeds love to carry and retrieve, but also are recognised for their willingness to work with humans.

These breeds are renowned for a playful but dignified personality and keen intelligence. When it comes to training, this is an "A" student, and the Poodle excels at performance sports such as obedience, agility, and hunt tests.

These are people-friendly dogs — they get lonely when left by themselves for long periods — and are always up for time spent with humans and a good game of ball throwing and retrieving with varied activities.

    SIZE:

The Standard Poodle stands 15 inches and taller (usually 22 inches); males weigh 45 to 70 pounds and females weigh 45 to 60 pounds.

    PERSONALITY:

    Intelligent, loving, loyal, and mischievous.

"an air of distinction": a dignified attitude

Despite the regal appearance, the Poodle has a goofy streak and loves to play —  always up for a game of any kind.

fond of people and eager to please.

    legendary intelligence, highly trainable

A  Poodle taught canine manners has a calm disposition, however regular exercise to burn off his natural energy is a requirement

Outstanding trait of the Poodle is his intelligence. Human-like intelligence,  amazing cleverness.

Note: smart dogs can be difficult to live with. They learn fast — good habits and bad — and they remember everything.

    HEALTH:

Poodles are generally healthy, but like all breeds, they're prone to certain health conditions.

We purchase puppies from repuatable breeders but we also take donations of puppies and consider dogs of need such as requiring re homing.

When the puppy, or dog comes into care at Therapeutic Dog Services Incorporated It has a health check via a registered vetrinarian and is given all vaccinations that are required, temperament tested and trained.
