Sebastian

In the Beginning
  • Sebastian is a Black, Standard Poodle. Sebastian is Clydes (chocolate standard poodle) Brother from the same litter.

  • Therapeutic Dog Services purchased Sebastian as a puppy from reputable breeder Carol. Originally as a dog to train to therapy dog standard to work along side Cody (our original white standard poodle).

  • Sebastian was purchased in 2011 was accepted immediately by Cody and Sebastian followed all Codys moves for many years in learning the role and process of becoming a therapy dog.

About Sebastian
  • Is comical, entertaining, and brimming with personality.

  • Sebastian is a high energy dog, he loves to be patted, and loves ball throwing activites

  • works fabulously with other dogs in the therapy dog pack, and when he crosses a strange dog for the first time out in the community, he loves to greet and meet them and shows good manners.

  • is a very friendly dog, however in some circumstances he may distance himself until he knows he is welcomed.

  • Due to Sebastian's breed (Standard Poodle) it has been very important on how we raised him as this determines how he turns out.  Exposure and On the job experience training has been an extremely  important process for him. Unlike his brother Clyde, whom loves all environments, Sebastian has a love for  more active programs and facilities, the higher the energy the better he enjoys himself.

  • Sebastians best pack friend member would be Chi Chi, the chihuahua, Sebastian allows little chi to hang off him, use him as a step ladder onto things and is oh so very tolerant of the little chi, Sebastians other love is his litter brother Clyde, (Chocolate Standard Poodle) They keep each other company , they play together, and keep each other entertained out side of their working times. Sebastian also makes sure that clyde is groomed to perfection, spending many hours grooming clyde.

  • When Sebastian is not working you will find him entertaining himself with the pack, playing chasing games and ball games between them all, on his down time you can find him seeking out a couch for comfort and loves the outdoors, playing ball and drives in the car.

About The Poodle

  • Poodles are highly trainable dogs that rarely need to be told what to do more than a few times, a keen working intelligence that makes the dog easy to command

  • a warm and personable disposition with a jolly sense of humor.

  • Standard Poodles are the most highly recommended for families with children.

  • They have a kindly demeanor and a love of playing games;

  • Classified as highly energetic, poodles can also get bored fairly easily, and have been known to get creative about finding mischief: they require walks, toys, and games of fetch regularly to remain happy, they thoroughly love their work as therapy dogs because they have something to do with their day and a purpose.

  • Poodles are often cited as a hypoallergenic dog breed. Unlike most dogs that have double coats, poodles have a single layer coat (no undercoat is present) composed of the dense, tightly curled coat which slows the loss of dead hair by trapping it in the curls. Frequently brushed and bathed this removes hair, but also controls the other potent allergen, saliva.  Our poodles are groomed every day and every 6 to 8 weeks professional groomer in which gets rid of the build-up of hair. They could be considered as hypoallergenic (though not completely allergen-free). The poodle does shed in minimal amounts, but instead of the fur coming off the dog, it becomes tangled in the surrounding hair, but are not as likely to trigger allergies as much as many other breeds.
